There is always a difference between someone who enjoys teaching and someone who does it to make a living. I enjoy teaching. This is because I find it difficult to hold on to information I know without sharing it with others who will need it.
I have taught students from when they were in JSS1 until they graduated from SS3. This is because the students find my teaching method very unique and simple.
How do I do it? I try to bring whatever topic(s) I'm teaching down to the level of the children and make them relate to it while using relatable and fun examples.
As a result of this, students started recommending me to their parents, and I started getting gigs as a private tutor. My style of teaching and handling of students became quite popular, and other parents started asking for my services, especially in preparing their children for major exams.
Over the years, I have taught more than 28 different students private lessons in about 18 families. The ratio of families to available time grew more than I could handle, and I had to quit my job so I could open my own tutorial centre (The Whitecarrot Tutorials), which is still operating today.
