Hi, I am Tutor Douglas.

My English-teaching career started during early childhood.

Since my father was in the Air Force, we moved from one Air Force base to another every few years; consequently, my childhood friends from many different countries were interested in learning the English language.

It became incumbent upon me to teach it to them.

This exposure to many languages and language teaching at a young age incepted or triggered a life-long English educational journey.

It began with the pursuit of a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications Journalism at a university in the U.S.

From there, I hosted a nationwide radio show for two years where I received intense coaching toward the refinement of my accent and pronunciation.

For the next twenty-four years, I interfaced with attorneys at U.S. law firms while constructing Evidence Files for them. Four of the twenty-four years took place in a call center environment in the Philippines where Filipino employees required my tutorship of their English pronunciation and accent.

Ultimately, my childhood English-teaching experience and subsequent English educational journey have led me to be where I am today – assisting teacheron.com clients with pronunciation, accent, vocabulary, and grammar.

Most “ordinary” vocabulary instructors recommend a predetermined set of vocabulary words to their students or clients.

This practice is marginally beneficial. After all, we speak and write at varying degrees of education and comprehension; consequently, the random vocabulary words we receive from “ordinary” instructors are typically inconsistent or incompatible with our current speaking and writing proficiency.

Due to this inconsistency, our application of the new vocabulary words may appear out of place or out of context. But more often than not, we neglect to utilize these random new words in our daily correspondence.

To avoid this, I refrain from recommending a predetermined set of vocabulary words to clients/students.
Instead, I propose new words based on my ongoing review of their spoken and written correspondence.
This labor-intensive practice assures that my vocabulary recommendations are consistent and compatible with my client’s proficiency in speaking and writing.

In addition, I do not charge for my reviews of client correspondence. Charges only apply after I schedule meetings with clients to discuss my findings. This unique teaching methodology substantially minimizes the cost of my service.

Please note: in place of or in addition to new vocabulary words, I may advocate the restructuring of sentences.
