Every child is a genius and our work, as educators, is to distill the genius in every child.
And since education is life itself, not a preparation for life, we educators most ensure that learners acquire the right foundation to build a joyful future.
In my 10 years of teaching experience, across different disciplines and curricula, I have guided learners to the best possible outcome and opportunities through the use the of good teaching approaches such as the use of stories, hands-on activities, songs, drama, comparative analysis and project-based learning.
Better still, it is more useful incorporate several activities in a single lesson with appropriate pacing and questioning techniques. we are informed by research that the "popcorn" questioning technique is more productive than the "ping-pong" questioning approach. overall, the key objective is aligned the activities and the questions to the stated objectives. We are also reminded that our objectives should reflect the entire Bloom Taxonomy - moving from basic comprehension to critical thinking. Also, moving from simple (familiar) to complex (abstract). Further, we have to ensure that the language of instruction is appropriate to the learners.
Our goal as teachers it set higher but attainable objectives (for our learners) and align the necessary resources - and scale up change reliably at scale.
