I believe the student knows exactly where and what they need help with. After identification through conscious and active participation, everything else flows smoothly from there.
Learning has always been easy and the effort of excellence is always reduced by tricks or rather the fromula used. I'll make you almost believe these formulas are shortcuts just the same way you have shortcuts for, say, control+A meant to copy all on a computer keyboard.
My primary school teacher asked for my tutoring when I was still in High School something that had never happened to anyone before. I attended his classes over tuition breaks whenever I was at home. The impression was permanent and when I finished my High School, I was absorbed to being a part time teacher for 2 years moving from one school to the next. I felt proud of myself.
I strongly believe that if a teacher does the heavy-lifting, there won't be much effort left for the student which makes learning more interesting. Students already have willpower and energy, but guiding them towards the right path requires an art. I have that very art!
