Primary Teacher (May, 2021–May, 2022) at SS Peter and Paul Mitcham
As a Grade 1 Teacher in an established IB school in the heart of Abu Dhabi, I am passionate about nurturing the growth and development of the whole child, equipping each learner with the knowledge and skills needed to support their physical and mental well-being. I believe that a child’s academic journey is underpinned by experiential and differentiated learning and observing expert colleagues has enabled me to observe different strategies for raising standards and driving pupil achievement across the curriculum. I understand the importance of setting high expectations which inspire, challenge, and motivate all learners to succeed, and have embedded this into my teaching practice. I proactively engage in formative assessment to ensure misconceptions are addressed as they present, and children receive constructive verbal feedback on their strengths, weaknesses, attainment, and progress. I ensure all learners have explicit areas for development and I adapt my teaching to ensure all children have an equal opportunity to excel. I plan and deliver high-quality lessons which challenge and inspire all learners. I make effective use of an appropriate range of observation, assessment, monitoring, and recording strategies as a basis for setting challenging learning objectives, monitoring learners’ progress and attainment, and planning for future lessons.
