Retired (2012) British diplomat with extensive Asia/Arab/Islamic global experience. I have over three decades of international diplomatic experience. I served in many countries including; Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Bangladesh, The Yemen, USA, Colombia, Trinidad, Nigeria, Kenya, Ukraine, Germany, China, Taiwan and New Zealand. Since taking early retirement in 2012 I have changed career by becoming first a teacher in Taiwan then returning to the UK in 2015 as a career coach to Chinese graduates in the UK, focusing on their research, analytical and writing skills.
MA in International Policy and Diplomacy
Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO). For organising HM The Queen’s state visit to Trinidad & Tobago in 1985. Presented personally by HM The Queen on board the Royal Yacht Britannia in Port of Spain.
Awarded the Iraq Reconstruction Service Medal (IRSM) at the British Embassy Baghdad, by the British Ambassador, for services to Iraq on behalf of HMG (2010).
Qualified Foreign Office Mandarin speaker.

Scottish, I am a family man, happy married for 40 years, with three adults sons.
