I have earned doctoral degree in Social Anthropology in the area of “Participatory Water Management and Sustainable Tribal Livelihoods: A Case Study in Orissa, India” from University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad. Having around 15 years of post-Ph.D. experience in both academic and research, I worked in the capacity of Assistant Professor in Sociology at Council for Social Development Hyderabad (An ICSSR institute), and also as Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, NIT Rourkela. Apart from teaching and research, I have engaged myself in 3 years of work experience in the field of social development.
During my teaching career, I have been assigned to take care of the subjects like Ecology and Sustainable Development, research methodology, Indian Society, rural development, tribal studies and natural resource management and livelihood issues to PhD, PG and UG students. Apart from this, my sole research is based on social development domain in various sectors such as skill development, participatory forest, water management, climate induced disaster management, organic farming, agrarian issues and resettlement and rehabilitation issues. In the field of research, I successfully completed seven projects singularly and few more are there with others which are sponsored by various agencies. Along with this, I engaged myself in various consultancy-activities and inculcated in me to earn the skills and expertise in project planning, assessment, monitoring and evaluation, implementation as well as social and gender analysis. To boost up my research, around sixty research papers have been published in various national and international journals of great repute to my credit and presented research papers in various national and international conferences both inside and outside India. On my supervision, seven scholars have successfully been awarded their PhD degree and few are continuing. In addition to this, I have organized various conferences, workshops, training programmes for development experts, teachers and students and been invited as resource person.
My career starts as a Research Associate and been posted in various positions such as Research Analyst, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. Along with this, I have served in various administrative positions including BOG member, Associate Dean-academic, Nodal Officer-Study in India, Admission in charge for CSAB, JOSA, DASA, Head of the department, Warden of the Hall, members of various committees. Altogether, my objective focuses on various specialized interest on teaching and research, administration, framing the methods, tools and techniques in respect to rural engagement and stakeholder consultation. Students looking for knowledge on all aspects of Social Anthropology can contact me. I am ready to help students pursing their higher education in Anthropology, preparing for civil services and students pursuing Ph.D.
