My ideology of teaching is informed by the possible application of the lessons I have learned from personal teaching successes and failures. I believe teaching should promote learning that is both purposeful and sustainable.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to know who my students are and the kinds of knowledge and experience they have. I also need to know what they want to achieve so that I can tailor a curriculum that fits their needs and objectives, and yet leaves enough room to accommodate topics or ideas that emerge from group discussions. It is also my responsibility to assess where my students are, with respect to the learning goal so I can provide the foundation needed to connect what they already know and what they want to know.
I embrace problem based learning and case based teaching, because they stimulate intellectual argumentation and cooperative problem solving . I believe in diversity and teamwork.
My goal as a teacher, therefore, is to ignite in my learners a passion to create an excellent understanding of the subject matter through an efficient and effective teaching method.
