Ransom EdisonEnglish conversation, grammar, vocabulary, writing
No reviews yet
I am a recent resident of Sweden with many years of teaching and tutoring international adult and high school level students in English conversation, grammar, vocabulary, and writing, have taught classes in journalism and advanced composition, and tutored individual students on particular subjects, especially social studies and history. Over the last few years, I have tutored students online and taught some group classes on platforms like Zoom. I have also prepared many students for standardised testing, including the Cambridge exams of English proficiency, TOEFL, TOEIC, and the SSAT and SAT for acceptance to American schools. I have worked with students of all English level abilities from the A1 to C2 levels by the CEF or Common European Framework rating systems, preferring advanced or upper intermediate levels. My main emphasis in English instruction has been on developing overall speaking fluency, but I have a great affinity for writing instruction due to my personal background. I try to utilize students' own interests and hobbies as content for conversation and vocabulary building work, finding that students tend to be more engaged and retain more of the lesson when they are having fun.
