Hello,
My name is Ben and I am a doctoral student in Classics (the study of Ancient Greece and Rome) at the University of British Columbia. I have extensive experience teaching Classical Latin as well as evaluating academic writing and research. I have served as a full time teacher, an independent tutor, a tutor with an after-school enrichment center, and as a graduate teaching assistant. I am very passionate about languages and the Humanities and I hope to share that passion with you.
I believe in combining inductive and deductive learning and I am always pushing my students to think harder about every subject and to support all of their ideas with evidence and analysis. I value clarity and directness in writing as well as grammatical correctness. I hold myself and my students to high standards because I want them to have the skills and the drive to succeed. I want to teach people how to formulate new ideas, support them with evidence, and communicate them clearly and efficiently. As your tutor, I will ensure your success!
