Hi! I’m Minha!

Before I introduce myself as a teacher, let me take you back to when I was a student.
Growing up, I was never academically inclined. I enjoyed everything except homework and exam revisions, all up till the year I was meant to write my O levels. It suddenly dawned on me that I had to condense 4 years of lessons, in a matter of a few months. These months were not easy at the slightest, because learning was never engaging enough for me to delve deeper. I needed a holistic, practical, and critical-thinking approach – distinct from the traditional method of rote memorisation for exams. Fortunately for me, this self-realisation didn’t hit too late! I was able to achieve A1 grades with distinction in nearly all subjects, even turning my weakest area (the pure sciences) into a strength with a distinction in Chemistry, Biology and Physics.
Because I know how it feels like to never have a grasp at concepts that seem too difficult to comprehend, I also know exactly how to digest it in a way that makes you want to learn more. After my O level’s, I spent a year tutoring part time at a tuition centre – and I realised just how much I enjoyed the act of making learning more engaging, rather than a chore. My students went from C’s and Ds to straight A’s! Nothing felt more rewarding. Now that I work full time at a private bank, I’m ready to commit my free time to something fulfilling.
There is never a one size fits all approach to education. I offer a comprehensive approach to education that goes beyond memorisation. I am dedicated to crafting custom learning materials, dependent on each student’s individual understanding and strength. Here is what you get:

1. After evaluating your child’s needs and strengths, a curated study plan with learning objectives. This study plan will be shared with both the student and parents and will be consistently updated as per the child’s pace of learning.

2. Each session will be accompanied with custom learning material, and each topic will feature my own guide to answer common exam questions. I prioritise active recall, critical thinking and real-world applications. For a 1.5-hour lesson, the first 45 minutes will be used to explore the depth of the topic in bite sized pieces. The next 30 minutes will be used to apply the learning in a practical worksheet, which will be marked according to the Cambridge/ PSLE standard.

3. In addition to personalised materials and a dynamic teaching style, I provide students with access to premium paid learning websites and resources for them to practice beyond our sessions. These resources complement our lessons, offering a wealth of additional materials, practice exercises and interactive tools to reinforce their understanding of scientific concepts.

4. Parents will be updated after every session of progress made, topics covered and tips on how to support their child through the learning process in an encouraging way.

5. Finally, I take a holistic approach to education. I understand that students learn best when they are motivated, engaged and enjoying the process. To achieve this, I strive to create a positive environment that nurtures curiosity, while also setting achievable goals and promoting a growth mindset in my students. We need to help children believe that they are capable of so much more than they think they are.

I am deeply committed to not only helping students excel academically, but also to empower them with the skills and enthusiasm to succeed beyond just their exams.
