I, Dr Anaond Shanbbhag, am an MBBS doctor with postgraduate training in General Medicine. After more than a decade of medical practise, I branched out to be a Mental Health Specialist as a Psychospiritual Counsellor and Meditation teacher in 2010.
My continued education included extensive studies of the Bhagwad Geeta, Upanishads, Adishankaracharya's texts, Ramana Maharishi' teaching at the Chinmaya Mission Delhi under Swami Nikhilanand Saraswati and the Guru Granth Sahib. I also deeply studied and practised mindfulness meditation as per Eckhart Tolle's teachings in my initial years.
I studied Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Neurolinguistic programming. I also bridged the gap in my understanding of science with spirituality with studies of quantum physics, quantum biology, and comparative religions.
In addition to learning the techniques of meditation, proper resolution of negative emotions such as fear, worry, grief, anxiety, regret, guilt, depression, disappointment, loss (financial, relationships, health, or death of a loved one) through proper understanding of concepts of spirituality help in laying the foundation for a consistent, rewarding and lifelong meditation practice.
While the benefits of meditation include control of blood pressure, blood sugars, chronic pain, stress relief; the real objective is to achieve an ability to tap into the inner peace, clarity and bliss even in the presence of the chaos surrounding you in life. The ultimate goal of meditation is to be one with the Source (God) - self realization followed by God realization or Moksha.
