I have been a private tutor when I was 18 years old, and all the while I part time give tuition to my students also will have a huge improvement including those non-chinese students.

If I decided to teach a student, I will give out all my focus during teaching class and ensure that my teaching will delivered to them until they can catch up the mandarin, Besides, for those students who really need improvement I will use digital method or the ways that they can accept to do homework to me. This is to make sure they have "touch" mandarin everyday as need to be improve, everyday revision is needed.
