Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated Editorial Assistant to join our team. The Editorial Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the editorial process, managing submissions, coordinating peer review, and ensuring the timely publication of high-quality research content across our portfolio of journals and publications.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the manuscript submission and peer review process, including coordinating with authors, reviewers, and editors to ensure timely and efficient handling of submissions.
Conduct initial manuscript screening and formatting checks to ensure compliance with journal guidelines and standards.
Correspond with authors, reviewers, and editors regarding manuscript status, revisions, and publication decisions.
Assist in copyediting and proofreading manuscripts to ensure accuracy, clarity, and adherence to journal style guidelines.
Coordinate with production staff to facilitate the production process, including typesetting, proof review, and online publication.
Assist in the development and implementation of editorial policies and procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the editorial workflow.
Provide administrative support to the editorial team, including maintaining editorial databases, managing correspondence, and organizing meetings and conferences.
Stay informed about developments and trends in academic publishing, scholarly communication, and relevant subject areas.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
Previous experience in academic publishing, preferably in a journal editorial office or publishing house.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for grammar, punctuation, and style.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with manuscript management systems (e.g., ScholarOne Manuscripts, Editorial Manager).
Knowledge of academic publishing standards and practices, including peer review processes and publication ethics.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
