Hi, I'm Mirian a Nigerian Pidgin English teacher. As a teacher, the first thing I will tell my any of my student before I start a class session is "if you fear you can't do something, then it will begin to manifest".
Pidgin English is not only spoken in Nigeria. It's spoken in almost all the western African, this happened as of the time of the western colonization. Our fore parents, then could not comprehend with the white man's language, hence they spoke proper English in jargons. This continued until it became a normalcy (English speaking jargon).
As a teacher, teaching the Nigerian Pidgin English, I will be able to be patient with my students and as well as to follow up with them to see if they are understanding. For example "Wetin" in pidgin means "what"
So if I say "wetin happen?" = "what happened?"
Another thing I'll tell my student is that, pidgin English do not use past tense.
