With a strong background in academia as a Lecturer in Islamic Studies, complemented by administrative experience, and a commitment to promoting student success, I am confident that my knowledge, abilities, and experiences will surely help the students to achieve their academic goals.
Prior moving into the UK in Autumn 2023, I worked as a Lecturer in Islamic Studies at BUITEMS Pakistan between 2018 and 2023, preceded by a similar position at SBK Women University in 2017. In this role, I designed and delivered engaging courses that fostered critical thinking and intellectual curiosity among students coming from diverse background. Beyond teaching and assessment, the job involved mentoring students on academic and career related matters, contributing to their overall development. Additionally, I was member of the departmental exam board and board of studies, showcasing a proven track record of meticulous coursework administration, examination coordination both internally and externally, and effective communication with academic staff. BUITEMS, which stands for Balochistan University of IT, Engineering & Management Sciences, is a leading Engineering public sector university in Pakistan with over 11,000 students and 1200 employees.
Furthermore, my core values of equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) align with the highest standards of educational ethos. My teaching philosophy is deeply rooted in a constructivist-humanistic approach, which serves as the guiding framework for my interactions with students and the design of my instructional practices. At the core of this philosophy is the belief that learning is a collaborative and dynamic process, where students actively construct their understanding of the world through meaningful experiences and interactions.
In the constructivist aspect of my philosophy, I recognize the importance of building on students' prior knowledge and experiences. I view learners as individuals with unique perspectives and backgrounds, each possessing a distinct set of skills and insights. By acknowledging and valuing this diversity, I aim to create an inclusive learning environment that fosters a sense of belonging and encourages students to contribute their unique perspectives to the collective learning experience.
The humanistic component of my teaching philosophy underscores the importance of fostering a positive and supportive learning environment. I prioritize creating relationships with my students based on mutual respect, empathy, and trust. I believe that a safe and inclusive space allows students to express their thoughts, take intellectual risks, and embrace the learning process without fear of judgment.
Throughout my career, I have been actively involved in the higher education sector. I have always contributed to the continuous improvement of student services and academic excellence, which I aim to continue. However, recognising the boundaries of my responsibilities, I happily seek guidance or refer matters appropriately to the designated personnel in the workplace when needed. I value constructive feedback, considering it as an important aspect of professional development.
Thank you very much for going through my profile and your consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss in greater detail how my background aligns with your educational needs or requirements of your institution.
