1. Planning and delivering lessons: Developing lesson plans and instructional materials that align with the curriculum and educational standards for various subjects, including English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Literacy, Numeracy, History, Quantitative Reasoning, etc. Delivering engaging and interactive lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of pupils.
2. Teaching subject content: Instructing students on different subjects–covering a wide range of topics and concepts. Providing clear explanations, using examples and visual aids to enhance understanding. Encouraging active participation and critical thinking among children.
3. Evaluating student progress through assessments such as tests, quizzes, projects and assignments. Providing timely and constructive feedback to students and their parents or guardians. Keeping accurate data of student grades and attendance.
4. Identifying individual pupil strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and learning needs. Providing additional support or differentiated instruction to students who require it. Offering guidance and counseling to students to foster their personal, social and emotional development.
5. Classroom management: Creating a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes respect, discipline and learning enthusiasm. Managing student behavior and enforcing classroom rules and procedures. Encouraging collaboration and teamwork among pupils.
6. Maintaining regular and open communication with parents or guardians, providing updates on student progress, discussing concerns, and seeking their input and support in their child's education. Attending parent-teacher conferences and other school events.
7. Continuing professional development: Engaging in continuous professional development to keep abreast of current educational practices, new teaching methodologies and subject-specific knowledge. Seeking opportunities for self-improvement and growth as an educator.
8. Individualized education plans: Collaborating with special education instructors and other specialists to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs or learning disabilities. Modifying instructional strategies and materials to accommodate diverse learning styles.
9. Creating a positive learning environment: Establishing a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive and conducive to learning. Encouraging student engagement, inquiry and active participation. Promoting a love for learning and fostering a growth mindset among students.
