I am Sajjad Khan, currently serving as a Young Development Fellow at the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives. This pivotal role allows me to contribute to shaping the socio-economic landscape of our nation. A passion for economic affairs, public diplomacy, and economic development has fueled my journey to this position. Academic Background: In 2021, I completed my MPhil in Economics and Finance from the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE). My academic journey at PIDE was more than just about obtaining a degree; it was a transformative experience that deepened my understanding of complex economic theories and their practical applications in the real world. This solid academic foundation has been instrumental in my current role, where I apply these insights to contribute to national policy-making. My academic pursuits have not been confined to the borders of Pakistan. In 2017, I had the privilege of being a SUSI Alumnus at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. This experience was pivotal, exposing me to diverse perspectives and enhancing my understanding of global economic trends and public policy. The program’s focus on comparative public policy of the USA at the local, state and federal levels broadened my horizons, allowing me to bring a more global perspective to my work. Professional Journey: As a Young Development Fellow, I am involved in various projects that aim to drive sustainable development and economic growth. My role requires me to analyze complex data, engage with multiple stakeholders, and contribute to policy recommendations. In addition to my role at the Ministry, I am currently engaged in various research activities and projects related to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). My work involves collaborating with various stakeholders to develop and implement policies and strategies that promote sustainable economic growth and development in Pakistan. Role as a Young Ambassador: Being a Young Ambassador has been another significant aspect of my career. This role has enabled me to engage with young people, policymakers, and international stakeholders, advocating for Pakistan youth, especially for my ignored region of Waziristan. It has been gratifying to see the tangible impact of these efforts, whether it be in policy changes or the heightened awareness and engagement of youth. In conclusion, my journey so far has been a blend of academic rigour, professional challenges, and a deep commitment to public service. As I continue in my role at the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, and in my various other capacities, I remain dedicated to contributing to Pakistan's growth and development on both a national and international stage.
