Born and bred in Singapore, she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Sociology from the National University of Singapore, and Master’s degree in Sociology from Ohio, USA. In addition, she has completed a Higher Teaching Methodology course in Singapore, as well as courses on Blended learning and Learning Methods. She has also received certifications in TESOL/TEFL (Teaching English to speakers of foreign languages), IELTS, PTE, NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming), and Family Therapy and Counselling. Her areas of academic interest and professional expertise are in English Language, Literature, Sociology, Social Psychology, Journalism, Persuasive Communication, Mass Communication, Human Communication, Media, Creative Thinking, and Workplace Psychology. Professionally, she has worked as a feature writer, columnist and editor for magazines and newspapers, and as an editor for international book publishers. She was a columnist for the Expat magazine, and in association with the Malaysian Psychology Association. She writes for MIMs medical portal and HR Asia. She has done counselling with Family and Teen centres in Singapore and Malaysia, and has conducted enrichment workshops on Parenting, Dating, Sexuality, Courtship and Marriage, Mind Mapping, Personal Statement writing, Social Confidence as well as language and academic workshops for the preparation of IELTS, MUET, PTE and TOEFL tests. Besides writing and editing, Jenny is actively involved in research and academia. She has taught in colleges and universities in Singapore, Malaysia and the USA. As a research scholar while pursuing her Master’s degree, she taught undergraduates in Ohio and Miami University. In Singapore, she was involved in a national oral history project documenting ethnic minorities in the country. In her years of nurturing and empowering teens and working adults, she has developed keen insight into a diverse community of learners.
