As a life-long learner, I believe educators have the opportunity to change the world. My passion for teaching began when I was in middle school when my English teacher supported my creative writing skills and listened to me whenever I approached her with personal or social issues. Since then, her support has encouraged me to use my words to change the world. As an educator, I possess the necessary tools to inspire my students in the same manner.
Through my own experience as an English as a Second Language (ESL) learner, I can connect with students and offer them valuable insights to facilitate comprehensive language learning and the achievement of their personal goals. With a Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), I am well-versed in the nuanced requirements of ESL learners, recognizing the necessity for scaffolding to foster the development of their English language proficiency. I am knowledgeable about specific theories and their effects on students, especially the importance of a low-affective filter and encouraging students to practice English comfortably.
Furthermore, I have engaged with and taught individuals of unique backgrounds, including China, France, Spain, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Brazil, and South Korea. This exposure has endowed me with heightened cultural awareness and a deeper understanding of their respective backgrounds, further enriching my capacity for empathy and cultural sensitivity. Equipped with this experiential and academic foundation, I have acquired a repertoire of innovative educational methodologies that I can deploy within the classroom context.
Finally, with a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature, I gained specific skills to support my students' linguistic understanding and literary analysis.
As for my Arabic language experience, it is my first language and what has supported my learning. I have been tutoring Arabic to children between ages 7-10 for 2 years and I continue to grow my mother tongue by reading Arabic novels and speaking Arabic between my friends and family.
Thank you for considering me and I hope I can make language learning fun and accessible!
