Hi

As a psychology and language major the university of Namibia, I tend to view education from a psychological perspective.

I have come to learn that different students learn differently and at a different pace. One must be patient and practice making learning fun by the use of visual and verbal elements like flash cards, songs, dance, learning games, picture and video content.

Motivational talk is important to all students young and old. When an E grade learner progresses to a D, you don't express your disappointment and immediately ask for a B or an A. Positive reinforcement is when an individual is said to have a higher change of repeating deeds that have been rewarded before. I tend to exploit this psychological theory by not comparing students but by seeing the little progress that each one has made and congratulating them for their hard work with praise and sometimes snacks.

How I find the best teaching method:
* Gain the professional trust of the student.
* Have the student open up by talking about past experiences and how this might have psychologically affected their academic performance.
*Recognize the learners most effective learning methods.
*Circle out the best possible teaching approach.
*Keep tack of progress and teaching goes on.
*Keep motivating the learners daily.

I would say what makes me a great teacher is the fact that I find the need to make the learners as comfortable as possible. Sometimes certain things go beyond a student being simply average. It's not just all about "I teach, you learn, I get paid". I personally feel discomfort when my learners aren't learning anything and find it my mission pin point the causes hindering the learners academic performance.

As an Art student and creative expression enthusiast, I am ready to happily sing and dance just to make a learner visualize a poem or the alphabet to improve their memory.

  • Student teacher (intern) (Jan, 2024–Feb, 2024) at Usakos Junior Secondary School, Usakos
    Student teacher internship for three weeks before university reopens. Three weeks of student teaching (afrikaans and english) and observation period.
    Monitor learners in he absence of teachers.
    Substitution of absent teachers.
    Complete teacher experience report and return it tp the university.

    *N$ 50.00 per student/per subject for a maximum of 1hour 30minutes of tutoring per week for 3 sessions (3 days). Extra charges for overtime.

    *Group tutoring gets a 15% discount.
