I am a medical Biochemist by training with research, teaching and clinical experience. I am passionate about teaching Biochemistry to medical students. Currently I am a full time researcher and I believe that researchers can be better teachers. They are better informed about the research developments and can help medical students in the formative years of their training.
Biochemistry is an important part of the medical school curriculum. Although, taught only in the first year, application of knowledge in Biochemistry is required throughout the training. I prefer interactive teaching, with practical application of the basics that are learned from books. I believe in establishing the basics of the subject so that students can easily relate when they are challenged by application questions. The most important part of the first year medical school training is integration between Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry and understand them as a whole. Help students understand the role of Biochemical mechanisms in the structure-function relationship of the human body.
My experience in the area of stable isotope based human research and clinical Biochemistry has helped to grow into a great teacher.
I understand the expectations from a medical student during the course and post medical school training.
