Hello, my name is Kate. I have completed my Bachelor in Education (FET phase specialist) at the University of KwaZulu Natal. My majors are English & and History. I am currently pursuing my honours in Anthropology at the Department of Anthropology & Development Studies at the University of Johannesburg. My expected date of completion is November 2023. I find fulfilment in seeing students or learners reach their full potential. When I think about my role as a teacher, the one thing that I am constantly focused on is the relationship that I have built with my students and building a strong foundation of mutual understanding, respect, and trust. I have extensive knowledge and experience in various educational curriculums, such as CAPS and IEB. My teaching method is learner-centred. I also have experience teaching ESL abroad. I am adaptable to my specific environment. I am passionate about incorporating technology into the teaching and learning process through the use of SMART boards, tablets, apps, online games, and activities. In online teaching or remote classrooms, I use a range of technology, such as interactive PowerPoint, Zoom, Google Classroom, Kahoots, Quizizz, Buncee, Flipgrid, Jamboard, and more. My lesson planning focuses on developing skills such as Critical thinking, Communication, collaboration, and Creativity in order to better equip learners for the 21st-century workplace.
