Hello, my name is Deepa and teaching children is my passion. I say this because when I was 3 years old, I came back from my first day of playschool and told my parents I wanted to grow up and become a teacher. I consider myself lucky to be living my dream as an educator.

When I am not an educator, I enjoy reading, playing the guitar and most of all spending time with my family. I have two lovely daughters and we love playing games together.
I have been a school teacher for the past 18 years, and an International School teacher for 17 of those years. I taught English language and literature to middle school at the early part of my career, and then moved on to being an EAL teacher until I found my niche as an elementary homeroom teacher where I taught all subjects - English, Math, Science and Social Studies. I enjoy helping my students learn to read using phonics and learn to communicate effectively using English. I use rich visuals, mnemonic devices and students own interests to tailor their learning experiences to match their goals.

During my teaching career, I took every professional development opportunity that came my way, and hence I have certificates from the IB, Teachers College New York and from Chapters International.
