Sekhants’o Paul Lara is passionate about physics and mathematics, hence his capability to clearly teach anyone having difficulty of understanding concepts related to these disciplines, at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Having over 7 years of experience in introductory physics laboratory demonstration he acquired adequate pedagogical skills to guarantee the transference of physics knowledge to the beginning students, through vigilant supervision of experiments and careful guidance in answering and conceptualizing tutorial questions. Setting tests and examination papers for assessment and moderation of the questions to eliminate ambiguity, are among the things that he is good at doing.

His area of specialization is in materials science and experimental physics, which are encompassed under solid state (condensed matter) physics. He possesses a good understanding of surface analytical techniques such as Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). His knowledge of scientific research techniques also covers scanning electron microscopy (SEM), pulsed laser deposition (PLD), X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence (PL), UV-Vis spectroscopy and thin film spin coating. He has outstanding expertise in semiconductor-microwire fabrication through the electron beam lithography (EBL) technique, which he acquired during his M.Sc. dissertation writing.
