My name is Dershaye Belay and I am a teacher working at university. Before going to class, I prepared my self by reading many references regarding the lecture topics. I have been using lecture, group discussion, questioning and answering, videos, field and laboratory demonstrations as a teaching methodology. And also I give assignments, homeworks, and reading assignments.
While I am teaching, I relate the topic to the surrounding environment. For example, if the topic is about earthquake, first I tell to them its definition and then how and where it occurs including it's effect and mitigation measures using figures videos. And then I will tell and show in which part of Ethiopia and it's global distribution with it's effects on the living and non living thing, as well as the possible risk reducing techniques.
I give tutorials to students which score low grades. In addition, I give makeup classes in order to cover the course well and have better understanding by the students.
I have advised more than five graduating students per year on their research work.
