Dance is not only my passion, but also a way of life.Through it, I can find rhythm in everything around me. I have been practising it for the last 25 years with almost 17 years of formal training. I was initially trained in classical, Rabindrik and creative dance forms under the guidance of Guru Subhra Guhathakurta, but later focused on pure Bharatnatyam under the world renowned Guru Thankumani Kutty at Kalamandalam (Kolkata). Besides performing dance recitals in TV programs (Doordarshan), I regularly taught and directed dance perfomances in the form of recitals and dance dramas.
Besides dance, I took up studying English literature as my profession and obtained my Bachelor's and Master's degree in the same from CU and Rabindra Bharati University, respectively. I have also been teaching English literature and grammar to high school students for the last 6 years. Recently, I have achieved a TEFL certification after relocating to the US. I have also completed a formal training from the teaching organisation Booknook and am actively seeking students to teach English.
While dancing is my passion, and teaching is my profession, I consider the words interchangeable and enjoy doing them both equally. And it is this enthusiasm that I bring forth for my students to make learning a fun yet informative process.
Hence I want to pursue teaching English/Dance to perspective students either through group sessions or one to one interaction, remote only. I believe learning with me will be an enriching experience.
