Teaching has always been my passion. When I am teaching I feel I am in the right place, doing what I love the most. I have extensive experience in teaching Mathematics up to A levels in both public and privates schools in the UK and Spain.
In my last role at Lampton school, I also saw myself growing considerably in the field of Maths. Indeed, I had the opportunity to teach A-Level mathematics – in particular pure statistics and mechanics – to year 12 students, which was a very enriching experience. In order to succeed in this task, I had the opportunity to work closely with outstanding colleagues who provided me with valuable guidance and feedback, which I will always treasure, during departments meetings and CPDs.
When teaching Maths play and imagination are essential to stimulate thinking, and yet, I believe that they are often forgotten when teaching Maths, as at times this field appears to teachers and to the students themselves as an exercise in memorization. I have instead strived to present students with challenging questions and problems, not to evaluate how quickly or accurately they would solve them, but to make them aware of their own process of enquiry, which can be at times tortuous, thus requiring courage and perseverance.
As a passionate Maths teacher, I would promote critical and creative thinking in my lessons inviting students to become independent, active, and enthusiastic learners, unafraid of expressing their ideas and capable to articulate and elaborate on their answers.
