Why am I qualified to teach?

I am a 2020 IIM-A grad. As a CAT 99+ percentiler and a batch topper at IIMA, I have a stronghold of Quant, VARC and LRDI. I have been able to crack IIMA/K/L/I in addition to MDI/IIFT/FMS. In addition, as a former CAT aspirant, I can coach students on how to face the ups and downs of the CAT journey, interview process and post-admission journey (which subjects to take, which firms to target, etc.). I also have a strong background and interest in Economics (batch topper during my undergrad in Eco at Hansraj College, DU).

What is my teaching style?

I have been told by former students that I am able to break down tough topics into intuitively understood pieces. I do not jump to questions before building a deep conceptual understanding of all topics among my students. Additionally, I suggest material to read/scan through (e.g. journals, publications) which can help my students build strong communication skills which help not just in VARC but also later in written essays and interviews.

For Economics, I try to map theoretical topics to real-life examples (e.g. concept of inflation explained via what's happening in Turkey, concept of interest rates explained via why RBI is increasing rates in this environment). I love reading economic journals, publications and books which help me make connections b/w theory and practice.

Why am I doing this?

This is not to make money (an IIMA degree helps you earn enough at a startup :)). This gig is purely for me to explore teaching as an alternative career option. I thoroughly enjoy coaching students and have done so multiple times in my career- in college, at IIM, and part-time during my professional career. Through this gig, if I am convinced that teaching is my calling, I'll go on to pursue a PhD in a US university soon.
