I find the best way to truly understand science is to see how it applies to real life. Science is after all the tool we use to solve real life problems. As such, my approach to tutor is to answer the "Why" and gently coax you towards the "How". This is achieved with allocation of homework assignments that require students to do some personal reading. Other tools that I find useful while learning is using visuals - graphs, diagrams, flowcharts, flash cards - our goal is to use all resources available to us to truly appreciate the content of whatever we're studying. For now, this is all I can comment. Rest is actions we have to take together, tutor and student, to make the most of our learnings.
