I hello am Sean I have moved from Toronto Canada, and I have lived in the Dominican Republic for approximately 10 mths and just like you learning a new language takes practice and time and patience !! I know basic Spanish but everyday I condition myself to learn at least 5-10 words a day with a dictionary, and then I try and put those words into a sentence . Are sub conscious mind we try and put the right meaning into speech and even myself I think about how I will word into my mind then I put into speech . I find with my self I understand more then I speak but that is how it is when you learn a new language as well pay close attention to certain words that I already know and then remember those words. I believe that anyone can learn no matter at what age it excites me when my students get a word right and then repeat what they were taught and the recite it back too me and then once they can learn the basics then we move to more advance and as well it maybe something simple like an object ect, but eventually we will move to conversation .
