I currently work as a Robotics Process Controller, based in Parklands North Cape Town and I have a BSc Industrial Engineering Degree from the University of Witwatersrand. I have tutored privately and for the University whereby I tutored Mechatronics and programming. As a private tutor I tutored mathematics and physics to grade 10 - 12 students. My specialties are Algebra and Mechanics probably because I have dealt with them quite a lot in varsity as well. I enjoy numbers, I believe they can be quite straightforward if you understand the basics and rules, its just a matter of building on to them. I enjoy teaching, and I am willing to go the extra mile for my students when I can by assisting with homework's or assignments without additional costs. My approach to tutoring is with as much compassion and patience as possible. I am aware of the fact that as individuals we are different therefore the way we absorb or take in information will most likely also differ. The way I teach is therefore unique to the individual as I respect and understand our individual differences, strengths and weaknesses.

Experience

  • Wits University (Jan, 2019–Dec, 2019) at Johannesburg
    I tutored Mechatronics and Software to 2nd years at Wits University. This was required as part of my curriculum in order to graduate. Through this experience I learnt how to teach, transfer knowledge and gained even more understanding of mechatronics and coding languages such as python, matlab and scilab. I also learnt how to exercise patience and it maximized my desire to be mentor.
  • Johannesburg (Jan, 2015–Jan, 2015) at private
    I did some part time tutoring while I was in varsity as a means to earn extra cash. I tutored grade 12 maths and physics and my specialty was algebra and mechanics. I think being exposed to Engineering maths and mechanics in my first year compelled me to be a good tutor. I dealt with 2 students that year who both obtained over 70% in their subjects from almost failing them. I have dealt with numbers almost all my life and I enjoy them more than anything because I find them quite straightforward if you know the basics and rules, its just a matter of building from what you already know. I also enjoy teaching, I approach it with compassion, patience and giving each student individual attention. Students or people aren't the same, and I am quite cognisant of that.

Fee details

    R200–250/hour (US$10.58–13.23/hour)

    If the student requires me to travel to their place of residence, I am willing but additional costs of travel will be incurred by the student.
