    A) The students will have basic understanding of digital communication concepts like base-band and pass-band modulation and demodulation in AWGN, starting from formatting at the transmitter end to detection at the receiver end.
    b) The students will have comprehensive understanding of signal space in order to impart complete mathematical understanding of digital modulation schemes like ASK, PSK, FSK etc.
    c) The students will be familiarized with bandwidth efficient modulation schemes like QAM, QPSK, the concept of probability of bit error and probability of symbol error in the presence of noise and channel effects enabling them to compare the performance of different modulation schemes.
    d) The students will gain knowledge about synchronization and equalization issues in digital receivers.
