My name is Chidubem Nwizu, I am currently a year 4 class teacher in a school (Cypress Hillside School) in Lekki Phase 1 Lagos) that uses the National Curriculum of England and Wales. I found your job vacancy advertisement on LinkedIn and I am applying for this job because I consider myself fit for the role because of my wealth of experience. I love teaching children and I do this passionately. I have good class control and I create a learning environment that is filled with fun for students to help them learn with ease.

I am passionate about raising children and I consider education an effective tool for training children. I have also worked with children for over 20 years in different platforms and organisations, training and harnessing skills in them voluntarily.

I have successfully handled year 4(Primary 4) from 2018 till date with appraisals from my school and from the parents of the children that I have taught. I teach the following subjects: Literacy (year 4 and 5), Science, History, and Geography. Teaching these subjects with the National curriculum made me realise how easy learning can be made for children. The curriculum is child centered and it enables children to learn at their pace while exploring and piloting learning by themselves. With this curriculum am able to encourage creativity, critical thinking, good communication skill and collaboration in children. For example, we are creative about learning, the children can choose different ways to learn; they can rap, act drama with their lessons, the can create and write stories etc. I give them room to think critically and analyse situations by carefully structuring scenarios and questions that spurs that. I give them several platforms to communicate and express themselves. We do class presentations often, we do assembly presentations, impromptu speeches etc. These has been a great way of harnessing the children's communication skills. Reading and writing skills have been enhanced too through their story writing, independent and guided reading practices. I understand the importance of team work in today's work environment and as an educator I encourage collaboration in my classroom. I often pair the children in groups to accomplish given task. I give them the opportunity of choosing their team head. At the end they will also choose who will present their result among themselves. My children enjoys group work at the same time they are growing to be good team players. These are the major ingredients I enjoy in the National curriculum that made me consider it very effective in learning. I have handled different abilities and am able to bring out the best in the children while spurring them to aim higher.

I am very versatile and can multitask a lot of roles which is evident in my current place of work. As a result I am able to fit into other roles as need arises. I have a good communication skill; I can write letters and create contents. I have been able to assist administrative work with this skill in my place of work. I created content for our website design, update website, write letters, send bulk SMS, create content for social media etc. I am also a good team player and with this I have been able to work with my colleagues effectively to get a given task done. I have great leadership skill as well; I am the Key-Stage 2 coordinator (coordinating work in the upper primary classes, from primary 3-6). I coordinate Summer school in my school. It runs every August during the summer holiday. I have been able to plan and execute successfully Summer school twice from 2018 to 2019. Kindly refer to my CV for more details.
I am also familiar with the tools and technologies available to facilitate online learning and how to utilize these tools to improve learning and deliver lesson easily. This is evident in my ability to handle in my ability to handle online learning in my school with students during covid-19 pandemic and beyond.
