I am a facilitator. I believe in the student-centred approach as it has proven to develop critical thinking skills such as reasoning and others. Furthermore, I know that better performance in any subject area can be achieved once the tutor assesses the student's current and prior knowledge. I believe that every learner can learn at his own pace; according to their learning styles and abilities.
As a facilitator, it is my goal to create an atmosphere where knowledge flows at a pace that is most suitable for the learner. Adjusting to the learner's pace; that is, how quickly they grasp a concept or topic is key and therefore critical.
A learner may or may not have prior knowledge, but I believe some knowledge can be acquired after diagnostic testing or any type of assessment before, during and after so that, a tutor can plan and execute lessons that are centred around the students/ learners needs. Taking a student centered-approach just guarantees that the student's needs are placed at the forefront of his/her learning. By focusing on one's interest, skills, talents and even their learning styles make critical thinking, communicating, collaborating, use of creativity that much easier for that individual.
I strongly believe that my years of experience (both as a parent and as a teacher) backed by my driven belief "I can achieve all things through hard work, attention to detail and determination" has made be become a facilitator with a purpose.
