As a secondary mathematics teacher with more than 10 years of experience, I am relishing this challenging but fascinating career opportunity as it suits my talents and potential.
Besides experience I hold a diploma in science education majoring in mathematics as well as an honors bachelor’s degree in science education majoring in Mathematics.
In my current position as a secondary mathematics teacher I am teaching all levels from ZJC up to Ordinary Level. However over the years I have developed into a pure mathematics specialist offering mentorship and designing an after school mathematics support framework for both formal and non-formal students who partake career pathways requiring higher order mathematical skills. This has seen me offering virtual and physical lessons thereby sharpening my knowledge base in terms of using ICT in learning and incorporating computers and other technological gadgets in lesson planning and delivery.
I hold extensive knowledge in classroom management and well vested in performance lag address programs (PLAP) which I have been employing almost on daily basis to cater for children with different educational background and abilities. My lesson planning involves sublime creativity and fun filled activities which have helped me deliver results. Students have found out that I am an innovator who design captivating activities without deviating from syllabus objectives.
I pioneered a mathematics club at my current workplace which have seen students attend compressed lessons online throughout the lockdown era hence being able to write and pass mathematics in short period of time. Furthermore I introduced pure mathematics and statistics to Ordinary level learners who had written and passed Mathematics earlier and enjoyed 100% pass rate. I wish to bring this same level of professionalism and work ethic to help reach targets.
I see myself as an error and misconception analyst not just a mere teacher as evidenced by the research path I have chosen during my bachelor’s degree acquirement. I am seeking an opportunity to make a meaningful impact through collaboration with school leadership to promote a dynamic learning environment.
