My experience I have a bachelor's degree in teaching. My major is Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), but I also teach other subjects like Bahasa Melayu, math, and Mandarin. Since I graduated from a Chinese high school, I can converse in Mandarin. Hence, I can converse and teach using four languages, which are English, Mandarin, Tamil, and Malay. I have teaching experience in both schools and private lessons. As for school, I teach at a primary school. For tuition, I first had my own tuition classes at my home right after finishing high school, which were just for the students around my neighborhood. Then, I worked in a tuition center where I taught students from primary school to high school and covered many subjects because that tuition center was literally lacking teachers. Right now, I am just giving some one-on-one online lessons to a few students for certain subjects. As a result, I've been tutoring for about 6 years.
My approach I have experience in tutoring both home tuitions and online tuitions. As for home tuition, I will teach my students a specific topic slowly so that they can catch up with me, and then when my students start to understand the lesson, I will evaluate their understanding by giving them some practices to complete. This will give the students an idea of how the questions will come out in the examinations. I will guide the students if they face any difficulties and make sure they have mastered the particular topic that I am teaching before moving on to the next topic. As for online classes, I still apply the same approach where I teach first and then, for the practice part, I will utilise Quiziz or Kahoot so that the students will enjoy the lessons. I always provide my students with the opportunity to talk, ask, and answer questions bravely so that they can improve their communication skills. Besides, I also allow my students to learn at their own pace; I don't force them, and I know when they have reached their limit, so I give them time to take a break and come back. This will make their minds fresh and more convenient to absorb knowledge. Thus, from my description, I believe you can say that I am not a strict teacher, I am a friendly teacher where the students have fun learning with me, and we all know that learning gets easier if it is fun.
