Hi I’m Sonia! I’m a 21 year old girl going into university soon.

I always enjoyed learning Maths, English and science. I firmly believe that a students interest in a subject is dependant on the teacher and the teachers ability to make the subject interesting enough to captivate the students attention and interest .
I was an assistant maths, science and English tutor for young kids at my local tuition center where I used to study while awaiting for my SPM results and I really enjoyed teaching young kids and also trying to apply everyday scenarios in order to further help the kids.
I was also a part of a mentor- mentee programme in school where students from the top classes would mentor and help other students who were struggling . I used to be in charge of helping my peers in subjects like English and chemistry by using different methodology and always speaking to them in English. I made it a point to always be bilingual around them as they understand content better in bahasa Melayu . I would also give them tips and tricks I learnt from my teacher as most of them did not have the privilege of attending tuition.

Long story short, I enjoy helping and working with kids and I am known as a friendly, positive and fun person. I believe it’s better to allow children to form a bond with the teacher rather than to be afraid as we would eliminate fear, anxiety and shame from making mistakes.
