I am an examiner of the IB[ both IA moderation and scripts -P1], a passionate IB educator who also teaches IGCSE Mathematics. I have been teaching for 15 years and my students have passed the IB exams with a mean of 5.5 and A for the IGCSE Extended Mathematics course.
I believe strongly in inquiry based learning, where students are directed using deliberate investigation activities that enhance their understanding of Mathematics. I also use the IT tools in Mathematics like GeoGebra, Desmos, the GDC, Excell to help spur the understanding of Mathematical concepts.
Over the years, as an IB educator, I have taken time to train colleagues and offer workshops on " Choice of toolkit activities for IA preparation ". This is a course whose focus has been helping colleagues identify topics within the IB course they can help students get stimuli for IAs and use them to write mini-IAs as early as in the first year of the IB course.
