Methodology of my teaching

I teach Hindustani Classical Vocal Music (Khayal ) to students across the globe, through in-person and online sessions. I adhere to Gwalior and Jaipur Gharana (style of singing).

I work with students of all age groups and levels.
For Beginners, I prefer starting with various patterns of paltas( Alankaras), basics of voice culture, Chota Khyals of basic raagas, basic practice of laya and light classical music like Bhajans, Abhangs, Vachana etc. At this level, students would able to figure-out the raaga involved in all kinds of songs.

For the intermediary level:
Here I will go with the improvisation of raagas in chota khyal and guided listening sessions to help students explore raaga-sangeet.

For the advanced level:
Here I teach the core part of the singing of hindustani classical music which includes Swatantra Alaap in Vilambit Laya, Boltaan, Bolbanav, Taans, various kinds of bandishes, Taranas etc.

In my teaching method, students will be able to mould their voice as their wish and increase flexibility in singing. Students will get command on laya, purity of raagas and in producing taan patterns. Which will enable students to perform without any hesitation.

    Manu Hegde is an emerging young vocalist of the Gwalior-Jaipur gharana. Trained initially under Vid. Lalita Hiregange. Manu learnt the intricacies of vocal music from Pt. Shripad Hegde Somanamane. Thereafter, he has been receiving invaluable guidance from his guru, maestro Pt. Shashank Maktedar where he has been undergoing vigorous training in the Gurukul system for the past 7 years.
    Manu has completed Senior grade from Karnataka Higher Secondary education Board, Visharad and Alankar From Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya. Manu has performed in several music festivals in Dharwad, Bangalore, Goa, Sirsi etc.
    Some milestones in Manu' s musical journey include prize at the national level inter university youth festival and prize in national level hindustani music competition organized by Gandharva Mahavidyalay Mumbai.
