I believe that the qualities of a good teacher goes hand in hand with those of an outstanding teacher as you need to be a good teacher first in order to become an outstanding teacher. In my opinion a good teacher does the basics of her job to the best of her ability.

A good teacher is kind and understanding and has a passion in working with children.

A good teacher ensures that all learners understand the content that is being taught

She speaks in a clear voice and is well prepared for lessons.

She allows for mistakes as this also a good way of learning

She allows children to play as it is through play that children learn so many things such as social skills, problem solving skills and develop better motor skills.

She is self confident and has patience with children

She monitors the progress of her students and teaches her students how to think.She encourages children to learn from mistakes and teaches the children to respect eachother.

An outstanding teacher tries to improve herself to become a more effective teacher.She shows a keen interest in the school and keeps her administartion up to date.

Speaking from my own experience a teacher should be a good role model and set a good example to the learners as the childs social and behavioral values are best learnt through the example of the teacher.
