TS Nandakumar is an accomplished Indian percussionist who has learned the ancient art from Kaithava Madava Das in Kerala, India. He has also performed professionally with many well known Carnatic artists all over the world. Guru TSN, as he see is known by his students worldwide, has students all over the world and has taught in many different institutions and also conducted lectures as a visiting artist at institutions . Across India he has won many best teacher awards to add to his illustrious career. He currently uses his extensive knowledge of Indian percussive arts to inspire students in the New Jersey area. He established TSN Percussive Arts Center in New Jersey in 1998 where is continues to conduct mridangam classes on a daily basis as well as special workshops in other Indian percussive instruments, such as ghatam, morsing and kanjira. He encourages students in class by praising their achievements and giving them space to practice and learn from him as well as their peers. He constantly challenges his students to find their rhythm in the classroom, celebrates their achievements and continues to provide opportunities for them to hone their talents to become decorated artists just like himself.
