Teaching has paved the way for me to learn so I always find it exciting to teach what I learn. It’s not like “I’m the teacher and you’re a student” kind of thing. I teach and learn at the same time and that is where my enthusiasm comes from. With each student assigned to me, I simply let him express himself first with spot correction. Majority of the students I handled were teenagers and adults so for the most part, each subject was taught by giving practical examples and exercises most especially in conversational English. Assessment includes written and oral exams. I basically ask my student what they want to improve unless she/he is below 15 years old (i need the guardian’s report). I do not believe in compelling a student to study hard because doing so would eventually snuff out a jutting interest from him/her. Usually, based on my experience with Korean students, they were given books to read and worksheets to finish so I just facilitated them through their learning journey. Yes, I provide homework everyday. In short, I teach or facilitate my students based on their needs.
