EXPERIENCE: I have 20 years of experience working as a full-time ESL Program Specialist. I have worked with K-12 students in the public schools and, for the past 14 years, in a university Intensive English Program. I hold a Master of Science Degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from Wilkes University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Misericordia University.
In addition to teaching classes in reading, writing, listening/speaking and grammar. I have specialized in teaching TOEFL and IELTS test preparation courses. I particularly love the challenge of equipping my students with the skills, strategies and positive mindset that are critical for success on these high stakes IELTS and TOEFL tests. My students consistently experience a high level of success in achieving their desired test scores. My teaching style is highly communicative and interactive. My approach is needs-based and I draw on a variety of teaching methods, depending on the learning styles of my students. Working with culturally diverse students has been my passion and privilege. I particularly enjoy the environment of understanding and respect that is created through the open sharing of ideas and culture.
