Aparajita Chakraborty is an exquisite rising star of Dhrupad vocals, hailing from the illustrious Dagar Gharana or Dagarvani. With a legacy spanning 21 generations and tracing back to the revered Swami Haridas of the 15th century, this tradition of the classical Dhrupad genre of Hindustani classical music is steeped in mystique and magic.

The hallmark of the Dagar Gharana lies in its intricate and nuanced exposition of the Alap, characterized by a sophisticated, subtle, and serene presentation that meticulously navigates the microtonal inflection, delicately delineating the subtleties of the raga, often overlooked or lost in other forms.

Born and brought up in Nabadwip in a Bengali family, with a distinct cultural and theatrical heritage, Aparajita was initiated into music at the tender age of six. She has since been trained by stalwarts like Padma Shri Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar, Padma Shri Gundecha Brothers, Shree Sushobhon Chandra, Bidushi Rajyashree Ghosh, Piyali Mukherjee, and Debarati Shom, imbibing a diverse range of musical styles and techniques.

Aparajita holds a master's degree in music from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, and has been the recipient of several prestigious scholarships and awards, including the National Scholarship from the Ministry of Culture for Rabindra Sangeet, and the NCPA scholarship for Dhrupad.
Her performances at renowned venues like the NCPA in Mumbai, the Chennai Drupad Utsav, and Smaran in Dhrupad Gurukul Bhopal have earned her accolades and acclaim from critics and music lovers alike. She has also conducted several successful workshops in the Kingdom of Thailand, sharing her knowledge and love for music with audiences around the world.
