I'm an alumni of the Philippine Science High School (PSHS) and got an undergraduate degree in Physics from the University of the Philippines. Professionally, I work part-time as a private tutor (and yes, I do prefer working individually with students instead of group as in a traditional class so I can provide tailored teaching methods fit for my tutees style), and I work as a technical consultant for several startups. My technical field revolves around data science, machine learning, and space technology.

The diversity of the types of projects I've worked with also allows me to integrate various real-world examples in my tutoring sessions. I am personally an advocate of KNOWLEDGE INTEGRATION so I always prefer discussions that establishes the concepts and theory, but always goes beyond to applications in or outside the field itself (mostly in real-world technology). This allows me to leverage personal interests or preferences of my students to better appreciate the subjects and or get them to appreciate the importance of what they're studying.

Experience

  • IB Tutor (Co-founder) (Sep, 2020–Present) at Agora Tutorials, Makati City
    Similar to my role in Jedam, I am also a private tutor for IB Subjects, mainly in IB Maths, IB Chemistry, and IB Physics. In parallel to tutoring the subject itself, I also offer the students paper writing consultations for their IAs and EEs for IB.
  • IB Tutor (Jan, 2018–Aug, 2020) at Jedam Academy, Las Pinas City
    I was teaching mainly International Baccalaureate (IB) Subjects: IB Chemistry, IB Physics, and IB Mathematics. I was doing either Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL) for any of these subjects.

    Aside from teaching the tutees the subject matter, my role also involved sessions on Technical Paper Writing since the IB curriculum required the students to produce both Internal Assessment (IA) and Extended Essays (EE) in several of their subjects so they can get the IB diploma.

    As part of the academy, I was also teaching other students who were preparing for the Advanced Placement (AP) exams, as well as SATs. These subjects also included Maths, Physics, and Chemistry.

    - type (tutoring for lessons are rated different from paper writing consultations)
    - frequency of tutoring sessions in a month (regular schedule is easier to manage)
    - group class or individual class (yes, I can cater group classes)
