Am Vaseema
As a tutor, I always ask students to tell me about themselves during our first lesson. This is because of a well-known principle of teaching: I must know my students to plan lessons and teach them.
Questions I may ask include:
Which school do you attend?
What is your grade level?
What is your favorite subject? What is you learning style/mode? (Visual/spatial, auditory/speaking, tactile)
Which hobbies and activities interest you?
Which skills are you interested in improving?
Answers to these questions inform me on what I will need to do for that student, based on his/her learning needs. I like to establish a connection before working with my students, so that they will be able to trust me and know that I care. I want them to enjoy our lessons and get the most out of them.
