Born in a close knit Tamil Brahmin family where the traditional form of Indian Classical Music casted a major influence on my inclination towards singing. Taking my inclination aheadI began training in Hindustani Classical Music under my Guru Pt Sanjay Ram Marathe ji from a very young age following the Guru Shishya Prampara. We followed Agra, Gwalior & Jaipur Gharana.
I ama playback singer, teacher amd extensive performer. I never wanted to be a hardcore classical singer but the knowledge certainly helps you through any genre.
That is what i try to teach in my classes. You need not learn very heavy music in order to be a good singer, having said that fundamentals are very important.
Apart from teaching notes and vocal techniques, there are many other aspects which are connected like breathing, voice gymming, posture, etc.
I also teach how to decode a song into swaras(notation) which is very important going ahead.
Personally I perform unplugged bollywood, sufi, ghazals, etc apart from devotional, classical, etc. I incorprate all the knowledge that I have in a performance and I also teach how to apply a genre into a pop medium
