I took eleven subjects in SPM (a national examination sat for by all fifth-form secondary school students) in 2019 and scored straight A+'s. I was one of the top students in Malaysia in SPM 2019. After graduating, I studied 4 subjects (Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Biology) at Kolej Yayasan UEM. In 2021 and 2022, I sat for the CAIE A-Level examination and my results were 4A*'s in all subjects. Therefore, I am confident to say that I have a strong academic background and am qualified enough to become a tutor. I am currently studying BSc in Physics at Imperial College London, UK.
I have been teaching IGCSE and IB Maths subjects via the online platform Google Meet for about one year since I joined TeacherOn last year. I might lack teaching experience since I am still a student, but in college, I was actively involved in the Peer Tutoring Programme, where tutors will aid weak students to ace the subject. I can help the tutees in terms of analysing past year's questions and telling them common mistakes students will make in examinations. I will share my studying tips and teach via an online platform such as Google Meet.

Outstanding, Fully Prepared, Committed, Patient Teacher

Ying Yan has been an exceptionally wonderful teacher who taught the very rigorous IB Mathematics Analysis & Approaches Higher Level course very effectively to me. I’m a high school student who has just completed the high school IB Diploma program. Whether it’s learning especially challenging chapters such as Vectors (including 3D vectors and planes and their intersections), or a puzzling but significant topic such as Probability & Statistics, or covering specific topics which I’ve requested (such as Ordinary differential equations, Integrating factor, Euler's method, L'Hopital's Rule, Limits or Optimization as an application of differential calculus) - Ying Yan has been always so prepared in class, ready to go through notes, examples, exercise questions and exam-style questions in a step-by-step manner clearly and in a way that’s easier to understand. Often, she also highlights with colours which I think also make the steps clearer. After going through examples, she would ask me to solve questions which we would check together, which gives me valuable practical experience. Through developing a much more solid understanding and having good practice revision together, I’ve really improved significantly. Sometimes, she shares with me more than one method to solve a problem which I find extremely helpful to discuss, and also tries to point out common mistakes that students make which are good to take note of. She also tries to ensure that even when a lot of topics need to be covered within a time limit (as my exams approached), the important questions could all be covered efficiently in the allocated class time.

Her consistent punctuality, patience and hard work are all something I greatly appreciate and admire. Not only does she usually ask if I have any doubts/questions or if there’s any adjustment I would like for an improved teaching experience, she’s also very friendly, something that brings the tutoring experience to a more enjoyable experience. She’s also very understanding as a student, because when I talk about my approaching exams, she remembers how hard it was for her too, and encourages me and believes in me. I am sincerely grateful to her and am so fortunate to have her as my teacher and friend. I wish her all the best in the future, and I give my strongest support recommending her as a tutor as I’m sure she is a dedicated, passionate and strong student who can definitely be an amazing help for you!
