Career Objective: Dr. Maha Alqudah trained as a Biomedical Engineer at Trinity College Dublin and developed a strong
interest in Novel medical imaging to measure the instant change in biomechanics of the gastrointestinal gut, in particular,
sphincters. She specializes in using quantitative techniques, derived from mathematics, engineering and statistics, to
problems that affect patients with achalasia, fecal incontinence and constipation. She was awarded a Trinity College
Postgraduate Research Studentship for her PhD at Trinity college Dublin, which developed new outcomes for Endoscopic
functional lumen imaging probe that improve quantitative novel diagnostics techniques to measure distensibility of organs
wall.
Her research work applies technology and computer vision techniques to provide a proof-of-concept for the automation and
standardization of clinically-relevant physiological measurements of the human gut, to enable the widespread use of
functional lumen imaging probe EndoFLIP®. She has been working with clinicians at the Tallaght Hospital, St James’s
hospital in Dublin, Ireland, and Aalborg hospital in Denmark to translate her research into day-to-day clinical practice.
Dr. Maha An excellent professional responsible in preparing and delivering lectures in classroom discussions; a leader and
is well-versed in a variety of the field’s concept and practices; has formed lesson strategies, presented creative presentation
material to students, responding to students learning needs and evaluating students’ progress; has strong background in
mechanical engineering and other related fields; has the ability to conduct research and feasibility studies in fields of
interest; has a secured doctorate degree in the area of biomechanics; has a touch base with other engineering professionals
to update on latest principles that govern the field that will enhance the learning experience of students.
